Nephrology Service Line provides comprehensive and multidisciplinary care to patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases. The department has a special focus on the prevention of early stages of chronic kidney diseases progressing towards advanced stages of chronic kidney diseases. The objective of this approach is to avoid or delay the need for dialysis or kidney transplant for as long as possible through risk factor medication such as strict control of diabetes, high blood pressure and abnormal cholesterol levels in addition to dietary counseling by nutritionists.

The dialysis unit at Mukhtar A. Sheikh Hospital offers a clean, comfortable, and high-quality setup, with special attention to infection control. There are separate sections (with separate staff and separate equipment) of the dialysis unit based on the PCR status of dialysis patients with Hepatitis C infection. All patients who need vaccination for Hepatitis B are offered Hepatitis B vaccination at the time of initiation of dialysis.
